The hotel was fabulous with a marvellous location next to a private garden, excellent tavernas in the village, and Matala center. The breakfast was great, well presented, and offered a variety of options. The vibe here was special.

Comforts of twin room where fabulous - an air conditioning, a work desk, and television. The breakfast was incredibly nice and there were a huge variety of options. Location: the hotel was just next door to Crete's mountains, the excellent tavernas in the village and the beach and the town.

The Valley Village is conveniently located next to a very nice beach, just a short 15 minute walk, or a short drive. The beach is vibrant (we were there during a beach volleyball tournament in early August 2011), with constant music from loudspeakers. Located next to the beach are numerous bars and restaurants, all reasonably price, serving Greek Food. This hotel caters to Germans, and although we are not German, we did not feel out of place.
We rated the Valley Village as "poor" regarding its facilities, due to poor maintenance. The sewer (or septic system) was backed up, and the stench made sitting at the pool a most unpleasant experience. The smell even enveloped the eating area at the Valley Village. The lack of staff to maintain the facility and infrastructure extended to many areas, with the pool filled with leaves, mold on the side of the pool, and gardening non-existent. It's clear that the failure of the sewer/septic system is not just a one-day unforeseen event, but rather, is evidence that the whole facility is in decline. It has such potential, and the rooms and setting is so nice, so this is quite unfortunate.

Our bungalow was spacious, clean and ready and made for an enjoyable stay. Bathroom had both lovely bathtub as well as shower compartment. Fixtures were modern and there was tons of storage space. The family members, especially Dimitrios were really warm and welcoming and did everything they could to make us comfortable.
Unfortunately, we were the first clients of the season, and they really weren't ready for us. They were filling swimming pools, and construction workers were all over the village. Also, no food or drink available at that time, although we were able to get breakfast.

We enjoyed a charming hotel, in an idyllic valley location near the lovely Matala beach. the service was exceptional, with the staff like family, always there to help us. the breakfast was delightful, with greek and continental options. the bungalows were very well furnished, cozy, and spacious. We had an enjoyable time at the two pools, one specifically for children.
There were some mosquitoes in the room that made sleeping a bit difficult.

Our stay was really nice. The food was delicious and home-made (congratulations to the cook) and the staff was more than helpful. The barbecue evening was excellent; I definitely enjoyed the folk dance group and the Cretan dances. All in all, everything was absolutely fabulous.

Nice and quiet. Well positioned for the beach and restaurants. Pool was ok. Breakfast was good.
Lack of sun beds around the pool - several guests had taken them away.

spent xmas at a hotel with a beautiful pool area, great food, and friendly service. Loved the traditional xmas meal and the festive atmosphere. Located near the beach with stunning sunsets and charming local restaurants.
The rooms were a bit outdated and could use some modernization. The air conditioning was noisy, but we managed to get a good night's sleep regardless.

The breakfast buffet had a decent spread and I appreciated the variety of fresh fruits. the location was convenient, being only a short walk away from the beach and some good restaurants nearby.
Our Christmas stay was marred by uncleaned rooms and unfriendly staff.
